RBK-001 Transport · Egypt · Project build

Mwasalat Misr

We put 300+ Cairo buses on the live map — real-time arrivals, trip planning and fare tools in one bilingual transit app.

Engagement: Project build — rider apps, admin backend, artwork and UI; technology selection ours.

Client scale: 300+ buses across Greater Cairo; first operator in the Middle East and Africa to push real-time arrivals across WhatsApp, Messenger, Google Maps and its own app.

Mwasalat Misr is Egypt’s leading privately-owned public-transport operator, running fixed routes and timetables across Greater Cairo and the new satellite cities under contracts with NUCA and the Ministry of Transport since 2014. It came to us for one rider app and one administration backend — artwork, interface and code — and left the technology choices with us.

What we delivered

Rider apps for iOS, Google Play and Huawei AppGallery (HMS), plus the web administration backend behind them.
Live arrivals from GTFS static and GTFS-realtime feeds.
Multimodal journey planning on OpenTripPlanner.

Tadarab

From a WordPress course site to the Arabic world’s e-learning platform — B2C, B2B, mobile, and enterprise SSO.

Engagement: Multi-year product partnership, 2020–2024 — discovery and analysis, UX/UI, web, mobile, deployment, SLA support.

Client scale: Founded 2016 in Kuwait; around 52 employees across six countries; 1,150+ courses on the platform.

Tadarab was founded in Kuwait in 2016 to close the Arabic gap in online learning. When we started, it was a WordPress site with Vimeo streaming and a paywall. Four years later it runs two production platforms we built and support.

What we delivered

Two production web platforms — Tadarab for learners and Tadarab for Business — on Ruby on Rails and React.
iOS and Android apps, taken from discovery and UX/UI through clickable prototype to a scoped MVP.
Live and recorded course types, completion certificates, consultations, subscriptions and Gulf payment rails including KNet.
Enterprise Active Directory single sign-on for government customers, with encrypted storage and database layers.

Enjz — National Events Center

The bilingual licensing engine behind Saudi Arabia’s entertainment boom — a 203-screen gov-tech platform, built in about five months.

Engagement: Fixed-scope build, delivered with our design partner HUED for Saudi Arabia’s National Events Center. Team: project manager, backend, frontend, QC, DevOps.

Client scale: National Events Center (nec.gov.sa); Riyadh Season 2024 hit a record 20M visitors.

Saudi Arabia’s National Events Center licenses the entertainment events and activities that fill the country’s calendar — the same authority behind Riyadh Season, whose 2024 edition drew a record 20 million visitors. Enjz, live at enjz.nec.gov.sa, is where that licensing happens. We delivered it with our design partner HUED, who owned research, service design and the interface.

What we delivered

A 203-screen platform end to end: backend, frontend, quality control, DevOps and CI/CD.
Native bilingual delivery — English and Arabic, left-to-right and right-to-left development ours, translation HUED’s.
Two-week Scrum sprints with a working application from sprint three, across roughly five months of active development and testing.

Vestaboard

A multi-year engineering partner to the San Francisco company behind the mechanical split-flap display — 25,000 boards in homes and workplaces.

Engagement: Engineering partner since November 2019.

Client scale: 25,000 boards owned worldwide; CES 2018 debut; a customer-backed seed round announced by the company in 2022.

Vestaboard reinvented the train-station board as a connected display for the home and the office. It debuted at CES in 2018 and has been building on that hardware ever since. Our agreement runs from 1 November 2019 and was still being re-papered in 2023 — the longest continuous engagement in this portfolio.

Strada Education ecosystem

Rubikal ran a roughly 50-person organization — five disciplines plus management and QA — for a national US education nonprofit.

Engagement: Managed engineering organization — ~50 people, five disciplines plus management and QA, about 18 months.

Client scale: National nonprofit, Indianapolis; successor to USA Funds (founded 1960, renamed 2017) with >$1.2B in assets reported at the rebrand.

Strada Education Foundation connects education and work across the United States. It is the successor to USA Funds, which brought more than $1.2 billion in assets to the 2017 rebrand. Rubikal did not staff a slice of its engineering; we ran the organization.

What we delivered

A managed engineering organization of about 50 people across backend, frontend, mobile, data and analytics — plus product managers, engineering managers and QA.
Around 18 months working alongside Strada strategy, product and marketing to envision, design and build web and mobile platforms.
Platform work across the portfolio: InsideTrack’s uCoach, Archways to Careers with McDonald’s, The College Fair and CAEL.

Wizeline

A 10-engineer multi-stack bench — data, backend, iOS, SRE — inside a global technology services firm.

Engagement: Ten engineers across four specialties, working inside the client’s delivery for its own customers. Partner since 2022.

Client scale: Global technology services firm, San Francisco HQ; majority investment by CDPQ completed 2021.

Wizeline is a San Francisco-headquartered services firm building digital products and platforms for enterprise customers; CDPQ completed a majority investment in 2021. Our engineers do not sit adjacent to that work — they sit inside Wizeline’s own client delivery, which is the hardest version of this test to pass.
